Retirees protest with hunger strike in airport

Three former employees of Varig airline that has declared bankruptcy, pitched in the arrivals hall of the airport Santos Dumont in Rio de Janeiro, on hunger strike. The former employees are retired and one is already without food for eight days.

Auctions airports have minimum value changed

BNDES approves financing for construction of hotels

Three loans were approved by National Development Bank in the amount of R $ 70.2 million. The amount will be for the construction of new hotels in Porto Alegre (RS), Itaguai (RJ) and Rio de Janeiro.
In the capital of Rio, the hotel will be built on the premises of Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (Galeão) and shall come into operation in August. The amount of funding for the project isR $ 27.7 million, under the banner of Linx.

Already in Itaguai, the hotel will be under the banner of the Tulip Inn, located at the junction between the BR-101 and RJ-099, with a value of R$ 19.6 million.

To Porto Alegre, for R$ 22.9 million, the hotel will be built in the historic city center and will flag Ibis Budget, which was formerly called Formule 1.

Retired makes hunger strike in Rio airport

José Manuel da Costa, 67, is a former flight attendant of Varig and doesn’t receive his additional retirement seven years ago. This fact motivated the retiree to install himself at a seat of Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro, on hunger strike.

The retiree asks Justice to release supplement that gets to have worked for 32 years in Varig discounting part of the salary to the pension fund Aerus.

After the bankruptcy of the airline, the fund has dwindled, without the possibility of offering the benefit to retirees. According to José Manuel, some of his friends had to sell the properties and other assets in order to pay for expenses.

500,000 people will pass through airports of Rio to see the Pope

Government wants alternate plan in case of airport closings

The airports of Cuiaba, Rio, Manaus and Brasilia are the worst in the country

According to research conducted by the Department of Civil Aviation of the Presidency, the airports of Brasilia, Manaus, Cuiabá and Galeão have the worst ratings among those who attend to tourists who will visit Brazil for the World Cup 2014.

The survey was conducted at 15 airports in the country, accounting for 81% of passenger movement in Brazilian territory, and over 21 thousand passengers gave their opinions on items such as cleaning toilets, waiting time in queues, security, ease to information, treatment by employees, Internet access, among others.

Budweiser themed bar opens at Santos Dumont Airport

Santos Dumont Airport located in Rio de Janeiro, received the first bar theme of the beer brand Budweiser, in partnership with Laselva.

The Red Corner, name of the bar, follows the profile of Brazilian botequins, offering several appetizers, besides the traditional beer.

The bar also has various labels of domestic and imported beers by AmBev.

Taxi drivers protest in Aterro do Flamengo

In Aterro do Flamengo, South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, taxi drivers gathered to hold a protest on Tuesday (30). According to information from CBN radio, they occupied two lanes of the road towards Botafogo, near the Monument to Pracinhas, leaving traffic retained on site.

A few hours earlier, they had gathered forming an “SOS” in front of the Santos Dumont Airport, also in Rio de Janeiro.

Taxi drivers were protesting against an injunction of Justice wich intends to prevent widows of the drivers to transfer their autonomy and that other drivers are hired. The injunction requested by one of the unions representing the category actually faces strong opposition from the self-employed.

Brazil is ranked No. 51 in ranking of world tourism

The Top Global Travel and Tourism of World Economic Forum is the capacity of each country to be competitive in the global tourism. According a study by the Economic Forum, Brazil occupies the 51st position among 140 countries.

The list is led by Switzerland, just ahead of Germany and Austria. In the last positions is Burundi, Chad and Haiti.
Brazil is the best placed seventh country in the Americas and climbed one position, reaching the note 4.37.

The study also ranked the country as the first set due to natural resources and 23 for cultural resources. The improvement in Brazilian placement also indicates an advance against violence that the country has achieved.

Between the problems cited by the survey, are the lack of transport infrastructure and lack of investment in the tourism sector. Regarding the prices of tourism and living costs, Brazil is at 126 º about the competitiveness of their prices.
